Summary:
Responsible for all accounting aspects of a project to include cost,
billings, sales, proposals, inventories, receivables, forecasts,
contract modifications, and pending proposals/statement of work changes.
Scope covers contracts that require various billing types, overhead
applications and cost reporting.
Duties
and Responsibilities:
Project Accounting
Maintains
contract master files, including establishing appropriate
accounting system records to track costs by contract, invoice entity,
contract line item and job number.
Updates
contract modification files and reports as new modifications
are received.
Maintains
accounts receivable records and follow up on past due balances
to ensure timely receipt of amounts due.
Reconciles
contract value/funding against billings to ensure complete
invoicing.
Prepares
and posts monthly sales/receivable journal entries.
Prepares
and posts monthly closing journal entries.
Verifies
the validity and accuracy of system generated reports.
Monitors
cost system and reports for accurate processing of direct
and indirect costs.
Prepares
monthly Profit & Loss Statements.
Prepares
periodic forecasts for sales, cost and profit.
Prepares
periodic cost/price proposals for additional funding requirements.
Assist
project management with special reporting requirements and
analyses.
Other Responsibilities
Prepare
monthly account analyses/reconciliations on assigned accounts.
Provide
training and guidance to other staff performing project accounting
functions.
Assists
with or perform other duties as directed.
Travel
Requirements:
A
moderate amount of travel may be required to support contract start-
ups and close-outs and to provide training to staff at project
locations.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s
Degree in Accounting or related discipline or equivalent is
required.
Three
or more years of accounting experience is required.
Working
knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office products such
as Excel & Word is required.
Working
knowledge and experience with automated accounting systems
is desired.
Prior
experience and understanding of government contract accounting
and DCAA compliance is desired.
